Materials:
* Automatic transmission engine oil (meets Ford specifications)
* Oil filter for automatic transmission
* Oil pan gasket
* Sealant for oil sump gasket
Tools:
* Wrench set
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Hex key set
* Oil pan
* Funnel
Steps:
1. Prepare the car
* Start the engine at idle speed and warm it up.
* Shift the transmission into Park (P) mode.
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
2. Drain the old oil
* Place an oil pan under the transmission oil sump.
* Loosen the drain plug with a hex wrench and allow the oil to drain.
3. Replace the oil filter
* Locate the oil filter and loosen the mounting bolts.
*Remove the old oil filter and replace it with a new one.
* Install the mounting bolts and tighten them.
4. Install a new oil pan gasket
* Remove the old oil pan gasket from the crankcase surface.
* Apply sealant to the new gasket.
* Install a new gasket on the oil pan.
5. Fill with new oil
*Locate the filler plug on the side of the transmission.
* Insert a funnel into the filler plug and add new engine oil.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
6. Tighten the drain and filler plugs
* Tighten the drain plug with a hex wrench.
* Tighten the filler plug with a wrench.
7. Update your computer
* Disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes.
* Connect the battery and start the engine.
* Shift the transmission into each mode and then return to park mode.
* Turn off the engine.
8. Checking the oil level
* Wait 30 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil sump.
* Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
