Materials:

* Motor oil for automatic transmission (meeting Toyota specifications)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Automatic transmission filter (if necessary to replace)
* Wrench set
* Hose or funnel
* Drain container

Instructions:

1. Ensure safety: Place the gear shift lever in the park position and apply the parking brake.

2. Raise the vehicle: Jack up the vehicle and place it on jack stands.

3. Locate the transmission pan: The transmission pan is usually bolted to the bottom of the transmission.

4. Remove the automatic transmission pan:

– Unscrew the bolts securing the pan to the transmission.
– Carefully remove the pan using a flathead screwdriver or putty knife to release the gasket.

5. Drain the oil:

– Place a container for drainage under the automatic transmission pan.
– Oil will flow out of the pan. Wait until all the oil has drained out.

6. Replace the automatic transmission filter (if necessary):

– If it is necessary to replace the automatic transmission filter, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for replacement.

7. Clean the tray and magnet:

– Clean the automatic transmission pan from any remaining oil or dirt.
– Using a clean cloth or compressed air, clean the magnet located at the bottom of the tray.

8. Install a new pan gasket:

– Apply a thin coat of transmission sealant to the new pan gasket.
– Install a new gasket on the automatic transmission pan.

9. Reinstall the automatic transmission pan:

– Carefully align the pan with the transmission.
– Tighten the bolts securing the pan to the transmission to the torque specified in the owner’s manual.

10. Fill with new oil:

– Using a funnel or hose, pour new automatic transmission oil into the automatic transmission sump.
– Fill in the amount of oil specified in the operating manual.

11. Check the oil level:

– Start the engine and let it idle.
– Shift the gear selector from park to each gear and back, holding each gear for a few seconds.
– Check the automatic transmission oil level using the dipstick and add oil if necessary.

12. Lower the car:

– Lower the vehicle from the supports.

* It is recommended to drain the automatic transmission oil every 30,000-60,000 km or as needed.
* Use only automatic transmission oil recommended by Toyota.
*If the oil is very dark or contains metal particles, the transmission may need professional service.
