Using an automatic transmission in a Kia Sportage

1. Starting the engine

* Insert the key into the ignition.
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the selector lever to the «P» (park) position.
* Start the engine.

2. Gear shift

* To change gears, press the button on the gear selector.
* To select «D» (drive) mode, move the selector forward.
* To select “R” (reverse) mode, move the selector back and press the button again.
* To select other modes (eg «N» (neutral), «S» (sport), «M» (manual)), follow the instructions on the gear panel.

3. Manual transmission control

* Move the selector to the «M» position.

* N (Neutral): puts the transmission in neutral, allowing the vehicle to coast. Used when towing or passing through the neutral zone.
* R (Reverse): turns on reverse gear.

5. Parking

* Stop the car.
*Press the brake pedal.
* Move the selector to position «P».
* Turn off the engine.

Tips for use

* Always press the brake pedal when changing gears.
* Do not overload the car when driving in «D» mode.
* Use «R» mode only when driving in reverse.
