Tools and materials:
* Wrench set
* Screwdrivers with different tips
* Drain pan for transmission fluid
* New transmission pan gasket
* Transmission filter (optional)
Steps:
1. Preparation:
* Raise the vehicle on a lift or place it on secure supports.
* Provide a drain pan.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Draining transmission fluid:
* Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan.
* Place a tray under the plug.
*Using a wrench, unscrew the drain plug and drain the fluid.
3. Removing the transmission pan:
*Locate the bolts that secure the pan to the transmission.
* Using a wrench, remove all bolts.
* Carefully remove the drip pan, being careful not to spill any remaining liquid.
4. Replacing the transmission filter (optional):
* If you decide to replace the filter, carefully remove it from the housing.
* Reinstall the new filter.
5. Cleaning the tray and magnets:
* Clean the tray of dirt, chips and other contaminants.
* Clean the magnets on the tray to remove any metal particles.
6. Installing a new pan gasket:
* Install a new pan gasket onto the pan.
*Make sure the gasket fits well.
7. Installing the pan on the gearbox:
* Lift the pan and carefully place it in place, making sure it is aligned with the transmission.
* Tighten the bolts that secure the pan.
8. Refilling transmission fluid:
* Locate the filler hole on the transmission.
*Using a funnel, pour new transmission fluid into the transmission according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
9. Installation:
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
* Lower the vehicle from the lift or supports.
* Check the gearbox fluid level and top up if necessary.
Note:
*Before reconnecting the negative battery terminal, make sure all electrical connections are secure.
* It is recommended to check the transmission fluid level after the first 100 miles and top up if necessary.
