How to use the automatic transmission in a DAF 106:

Gear shift:

* Park (P): Used when the vehicle is parked.
* Reverse (R): Used to move backwards.
* Neutral (N): Used when the vehicle is stationary or towed.
* Drive (D): Used for normal forward movement.
* Down (1): Used for steep descents or towing heavy loads.
*Up (2): Used for a smoother ride in the city or when maneuvering.

Control:

* Gear shift lever: Located on the center console or steering column. Switch the lever to the desired position.
*Sport Mode Selector (not on all models): When available, can be used for more aggressive shifting.
*Brake pedal: Press the brake pedal to unlock the gear shift lever.

Usage:

1. Make sure the car is stationary and the brake pedal is depressed.
2. Shift the gear shift lever to the desired position.
3. Release the brake pedal and the car will start moving.

Adviсe:

* Do not change gears without pressing the brake pedal.
* Do not change gears from reverse to forward or vice versa while the vehicle is moving.
* Use position “1” for going down steep slopes and “2” for city driving or maneuvering.
* If the car cannot move in position “D”, try shifting to “2” or “1”.
* If the shift lever sticks, try shifting into Neutral (N) and then shifting back into the desired gear.
*Service the transmission regularly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
