How to use an automatic transmission in a Honda CR-V
1. Gear shift lever:
* P (Park): Locks the transmission for parking.
* R (reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (neutral): No gear.
* D (drive): Normal driving mode.
* D3 (third gear): Limits shifting to third gear.
* D2 (second gear): Limits shifting to second gear.
* L (Low): Used for heavy deceleration or towing.
2. Starting the engine:
1. Insert the key into the ignition.
2. Press the brake pedal.
3. Move the gear lever to position P.
4. Start the engine.
3. Gear selection:
1. Release the brake pedal.
2. Move the shift lever to the desired position.
3. Press the gas pedal to start driving.
4. Gear shift:
The transmission automatically shifts between gears. However, you can also manually change gears by pressing the paddle shifter or moving the shift lever to the D3, D2 or L positions.
5. Stopping and parking:
1. Press the brake pedal to stop the car.
2. Move the gear lever to position P.
3. Remove the key from the ignition.
Additional tips:
* Do not shift from D to P or R while the vehicle is moving. This may damage the transmission.
* Use the D3 or D2 position for descending steep hills or for better control on slippery roads.
* Use the L position for heavy deceleration or when towing.
* Do not park the vehicle on a slope in position D. Use position P or apply the parking brake.
