The mass in an electrician’s car performs the following functions:

* Ground: Ground serves as a common ground for the vehicle’s electrical system. It connects the negative terminals of all electrical components to the negative terminal of the battery, providing a closed path for current.
* Current Return: Ground provides a path for current return from electrical components to the power source. Current flows from the positive terminal of the battery through the electrical components and returns to the battery through ground.
*Short Circuit Protection: Ground minimizes the risk of short circuit by providing a low resistance path for current. If a short circuit occurs, current will flow through ground instead of damaging components or wiring.
* Noise Reduction: Mass helps reduce electrical noise that can disrupt the operation of sensitive electrical components. It provides a low-impedance path for bias currents, preventing them from generating noise and interference.
* Improved performance: Optimal grounding levels ensure proper operation of all electrical components. This improves the performance of electronics, lighting, ignition and other systems.
* Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection: The ground provides a path for the dissipation of electrostatic charge that may accumulate on the vehicle body. This helps prevent ESD damage to sensitive electronics.
