A clicking sound when turning on the automatic transmission can indicate various problems:

*Low Transmission Fluid Level: Leaking or underfilling of transmission fluid can result in insufficient lubrication and cause a clicking noise.
* Worn solenoids: Solenoids control gear shifting and wear can cause gear changes to be delayed or abrupt, causing a clicking noise.
* Torque converter problems: The torque converter connects the engine and transmission. A faulty torque converter may cause clicking or vibration.
* Worn friction discs: Friction discs transmit torque from the engine to the transmission. Their wear can lead to slipping and clicking when changing gears.
* Problems with the electronic control unit (ECU): The ECU controls the operation of the transmission. A faulty ECU can cause shifting problems and clicking noises.
* Failure of the gear selector position sensor: This sensor informs the ECU about the selected gearbox mode. A faulty sensor can result in incorrect gear shifting and clicking noises.

To accurately diagnose and fix the problem, it is recommended to contact a service station and have the gearbox diagnosed.
