Automatic transmission (AT) and automatic transmission without torque converter (automatic) are two types of automatic transmissions used in cars.

Main differences:

* Torque converter: An automatic transmission uses a torque converter, while an automatic does not.

* A torque converter is a device filled with fluid (gear oil) that transmits torque from the engine to the gearbox. It acts like a clutch, providing smooth, jerk-free gear changes.

* Gear shifting: In an automatic transmission, gear shifting is carried out by a torque converter and a planetary gearbox. An automatic uses a mechanical clutch to change gears.

* Efficiency: Automatic transmissions are typically less efficient than automatics because the torque converter causes some energy loss.

* Fuel consumption: Automatics are usually more economical than automatic transmissions due to lower energy losses.

* Lifespan: Automatics generally have a longer lifespan than automatic transmissions because they have fewer moving parts.

* Driving Performance: Automatic transmissions provide smoother shifts and a more comfortable ride. Automatics can provide a sportier driving experience.

* Cost: Automatics are usually cheaper to purchase and maintain than automatic transmissions.

Types of automatic transmissions without torque converter:

* Variable Transmission (CVT): Uses a belt or chain to transfer power from the engine to the wheels.
* Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT): Automates a manual transmission using servos.
*Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT): Uses two clutches to change gears without loss of power.
