* Quality of workmanship: The reliability of a gearbox also depends on the quality of its workmanship and the components used.

Modern machines are also becoming more reliable thanks to improved designs, materials and electronic control systems. However, a manual transmission is still a more reliable option for some drivers and usage conditions.
