The need to warm up the engine

In modern cars with an automatic transmission (automatic transmission), warming up the engine is not mandatory, but is still recommended for the following reasons:

* Improved Lubrication: Cold oil is thicker, so it cannot lubricate the engine effectively. Warming up the engine allows the oil to warm up and better penetrate into narrow channels.
* Reduced wear: Without warming up, the engine runs at higher speeds and under greater load, which can lead to increased wear.
*Improved Fuel Economy: A warm engine burns fuel more efficiently.
* Reduced emissions: A warm catalytic converter operates more efficiently, resulting in lower emissions.

How to warm up an engine with automatic transmission

* Start the engine: Start the engine and let it idle for 30-60 seconds.
* Move the automatic transmission selector to the “P” (park) position: This will allow the oil pump to provide lubrication to all internal components of the transmission.
* Press the brake pedal lightly: Not all the way, just lightly.
* Move the automatic transmission selector to position “D” (drive): This will help warm up the clutches and solenoids in the gearbox.
* Warm up the engine at idle speed: Let the engine idle for approximately 5-10 minutes.
* Start moving: Start moving smoothly, without accelerating suddenly.

Adviсe

* Avoid sudden acceleration and high revs during warm-up.
*Warm-up time may vary depending on ambient temperature and vehicle model.
*In particularly cold climates, longer warm-up times may be required.
*If you have limited time, you can warm up the engine while driving, but be more careful with your driving.
