Volvo automatic transmission selector lever position:

*P (Parking): Used to park the vehicle.
* R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disables transmission from engine to transmission.
* D (Drive): Basic driving mode, automatically changes gears depending on load and vehicle speed.
* M (Manual): Allows the driver to change gears independently using the selector lever or steering wheel paddles.
*S (Sport Mode): Increases transmission responsiveness and delays upshifts for improved acceleration.
* W (Winter Mode): Used on slippery surfaces, starts the vehicle in second gear to prevent wheel slip.

How to use Volvo automatic transmission:

1. Starting the engine: Press the brake pedal, then turn the ignition key to the “Start” position.
2. Selecting a driving mode: Move the automatic transmission selector lever to the desired position.
3. Removing from parking: Press the brake pedal and move the selector lever to “D” or “R” mode.
4. Driving: Release the brake pedal and press the gas pedal to drive. The transmission will automatically change gears.
5. Manual gear shift (optional): In M mode, use the selector lever or steering wheel paddle shifters to change gears. Moving the lever forward increases the gear, and moving the lever back decreases it.
6. Parking: Press the brake pedal, move the selector lever to the “P” position and turn off the engine.

Adviсe:

* When coasting, it is recommended to move the selector lever to “N” mode for better fuel economy.
* For better acceleration, use sport mode “S”.
* In “W” mode (winter mode), the car will not slip on slippery surfaces.
* Always stop in Neutral (N) or Park (P) and apply the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from moving unintentionally.
