Materials:
*Gearbox oil (check owner’s manual for specifications)
* New transmission pan gasket
* Parts cleaner
* Set of socket wrenches
* Funnel
*Clean cloth
Instructions:
1. Prepare the vehicle: Place the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake and allow the engine to cool.
2. Raise the car: Use a jack to raise the front of the car. Install stands for safety.
3. Remove the engine guard (if equipped): Most Tiguan models have a metal engine guard. Remove the bolts and set the guard aside.
4. Clean the transmission pan: Use a parts cleaner to remove dirt and debris from the transmission pan.
5. Drain the old oil: Place a drain pan under the transmission pan. Carefully unscrew the drain plug and allow the oil to drain.
6. Replace the pan gasket: Clean the gasket and pan surfaces. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the new gasket and install it on the pan.
7. Tighten the drain plug: Tighten the drain plug to the torque specified in the owner’s manual.
8. Fill with new oil: Insert a funnel into the filler hole on the transmission. Fill in the required amount of oil specified in the instruction manual.
9. Check the oil level: Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Check the oil level using the dipstick and add oil if necessary.
10. Install the engine guard (if removed): Reinstall the engine guard and tighten all bolts.
11. Lower the vehicle: Carefully lower the vehicle from the stands.
12. Check for leaks: Start the engine and run it for a short time. Check under the car for leaks.

* Check the gearbox oil level regularly and top up if necessary.
* Regularly changing the gearbox oil will extend its service life.
