Changing the automatic transmission oil DSG Volkswagen

Materials:

* New DSG gear oil meeting Volkswagen specifications (usually VW G 052 182 A2 or G 052 512 A2)
* New DSG automatic transmission oil filter
* New pan gasket for DSG automatic transmission
* Funnel for filling oil
* Keys and screwdrivers
* Device for reading and resetting diagnostic codes

Tools:

*Hydraulic lift (recommended)
* Workbench
* Clean gloves
* Clean container for draining used oil

Instructions:

1. Preparing the car

* Start the car and let it run for about 10 minutes to warm up the transmission.
* Put the car in park and apply the parking brake.
* Raise the vehicle on a hydraulic lift or place it on secure jacks.

2. Draining used oil

* Locate the DSG automatic transmission pan under the vehicle.
* Clean the area around the pan drain plug.
* Place a container for used oil under the drain plug.
*Use a wrench to loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain.
*Wait until all the oil has drained.

3. Replacing the oil filter

* Find the DSG automatic transmission oil filter.
* Clean the area around the filter.
* Loosen the bolts securing the filter and remove it.
* Lubricate the new O-ring on the new filter.
* Screw in the new filter and tighten the bolts.

4. Cleaning the automatic transmission pan

* Remove the automatic transmission pan by unscrewing the bolts that secure it.
* Clean the pan of any metal particles, dirt or debris.
* Replace the gasket with a new one.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan

* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
* Tighten the drain plug.

6. Filling with new oil

* Locate the DSG automatic transmission filler plug on the pan.
* Insert a funnel into the filler plug and begin pouring new oil.
* Fill in the amount of oil specified in the vehicle specifications.
* Tighten the filler plug.

7. Resetting the automatic transmission oil change counter

* Connect the code reader to the vehicle’s diagnostic port.
* Read and erase the automatic transmission oil change code.

8. Completion

* Lower the vehicle to the ground.
* Check the automatic transmission oil level using a dipstick or diagnostic tool.
* Make sure there are no leaks in the system.
*Take a test drive to check transmission performance.
