Electrical system of VAZ cars
Battery
* Provides power to the vehicle’s electrical systems when the engine is not running.
* Usually has a capacity of 60-70 Ah and a voltage of 12 V.
* Placed in the engine compartment.
Generator
* Charges the battery and powers electrical systems while the engine is running.
* Is three phase AC with rectifier unit.
* Driven by a belt from the crankshaft.
Starter
* Provides engine starting.
* Is a DC electric motor.
* Operated by a pull-in relay from the battery.
Ignition system
* Provides a high-voltage pulse to the spark plugs to ignite the air-fuel mixture in the cylinders.
* Consists of an ignition coil, commutator, distributor and spark plugs.
Power system
* Provides fuel to the engine.
* Consists of a fuel pump, fuel filters, fuel lines and fuel injectors.
Engine control system (ECM)
* Controls engine operation, optimizing fuel supply, ignition and other parameters.
* Typically based on an electronic control unit (ECU).
Lighting system
* Provides visibility for the driver and other road users.
* Consists of headlights, taillights, turn signals and brake lights.
Wiper system
* Clears windshield and rear windows of dirt, snow and rain.
* Typically consists of an electric motor, wiper arms and blades.
Heating and ventilation system
* Maintains a comfortable temperature inside the car.
* Usually consists of a heater, fan and air ducts.
Security system
* Protects passengers and driver from injury in the event of an accident.
* Consists of airbags, seat belts and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).
On-board computer
* Provides the driver with information about the current status of the vehicle, such as speed, fuel consumption and mileage.
* Normally displayed in the instrument panel information display.
