Installing an automatic transmission instead of a manual transmission in a UAZ Patriot

Required parts:

* Automatic transmission (automatic transmission) from Chevrolet Niva
* Automatic transmission controller (ECU)
* Cardan shaft for automatic transmission
* Transfer case for automatic transmission (depending on the Patriot model)
* Automatic transmission selector with cables
* Automatic transmission selector position sensor
* Automatic transmission speed sensor
* Wiring
* Mounts for automatic transmission

Instructions:

1. Dismantling the manual transmission

* Remove the terminal from the battery.
* Disconnect the driveshaft.
* Remove the transfer case.
* Remove the manual transmission.

2. Installation of automatic transmission

* Install the automatic transmission on the support platforms.
* Install the driveshaft.
* Install the transfer case.

3. Automatic transmission connection

* Connect the automatic transmission selector position sensor.
* Connect the automatic transmission speed sensor.
* Install the automatic transmission ECU and connect all necessary connectors.

4. Wiring installation

* Route the wiring from the automatic transmission ECU to the warning lamps on the instrument panel.
* Route the wiring from the sensors to the automatic transmission ECU.

5. Installation of the automatic transmission selector

* Install the automatic transmission selector in the console.
* Connect the selector cables to the automatic transmission.

6. Setup

* Program the automatic transmission ECU using a diagnostic scanner.
* Adjust the shift solenoids.

7. Testing

* Install the terminal on the battery.
* Start the engine.
* Switch the automatic transmission selector to all positions.
* Check the operation of the automatic transmission while driving.

Note:

* This procedure requires special knowledge and equipment. It is recommended that you have a qualified technician perform the installation.
* Installation time is about 2-3 days.
