Automatic transmission Toyota Prado
The Toyota Prado automatic transmission is a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission with manual mode.
Operating modes:
*P (Park): Locks the transmission, preventing the vehicle from rolling.
* R (Reverse): Engages reverse gear.
* N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine, allowing the vehicle to roll freely.
* D (Drive): The main driving mode, automatically changing gears depending on speed and load.
*S (Sport): Provides more aggressive shifts for improved acceleration.
* M (Manual): Allows the driver to manually change gears using the steering wheel paddles or gear selector.
Peculiarities:
* Cruise control: Maintains a set speed without having to press the accelerator pedal.
* Hill Descent Control (DAC): Automatically adjusts vehicle speed when descending steep slopes.
* Traction Control (TRC): Automatically distributes torque between wheels to improve traction.
* Hill Start Assist Control (HAC): Prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards on steep inclines.
Gear shift:
When D mode is engaged, the transmission automatically changes gears depending on speed and load. In manual mode, the driver can shift up or down gears using the steering wheel paddles or the gear selector.
Service:
To ensure optimal performance, regular transmission maintenance is recommended, including changing the transmission fluid and filter. The service interval depends on operating conditions and manufacturer’s recommendations.
