Adjusting the automatic transmission selector cable on a Toyota Corona Premio
Required tools:
*Metric 12mm spanner
* Phillips head screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Set the vehicle’s parking brake and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood.
3. Find the automatic transmission selector cable. It connects the gear selector lever inside the car to the transmission.
4. Disconnect the cable from the gear selector lever. To do this, remove the plastic clip securing the cable to the lever.
5. Adjust the cable. The gearbox has an adjusting bolt for the selector cable.
6. Using a 12mm wrench, loosen the adjusting nut.
7. Move the cable forward or backward to adjust its length. The length of the cable must be such that when the gear selector lever is moved in each position, the corresponding indicators on the instrument panel light up.
8. Tighten the adjusting nut, holding the cable in place.
9. Connect the cable to the gear selector lever. Insert the cable into the slot on the lever and secure it with a plastic clip.
10. Check the adjustment. Move the gear selector lever to each position and check that the corresponding indicators on the instrument panel come on.
If adjustment fails, contact a qualified mechanic.
