Location of the automatic transmission oil level dipstick in Toyota Camry:
For models up to 2017:
* Open the hood and locate the engine oil dipstick.
* Directly below the engine oil dipstick is a separate transmission oil dipstick.
For 2018 and newer models:
* Open the hood and locate the engine oil dipstick.
* The transmission oil level dipstick is located on a separate block in the engine compartment. It may be located near the battery or coolant expansion tank.
Description of the probe:
* There is a plastic handle or loop on the top of the dipstick.
* There are two marks on the end of the dipstick: “FULL” and “LOW”.
Checking the automatic transmission oil level:
1. Place the car on a level surface.
2. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
3. Remove the automatic transmission oil level dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
4. Insert the dipstick back into the tube and then remove it again.
5. Check the oil level on the dipstick. It should be between the “FULL” and “LOW” marks.
Note:
* Check the automatic transmission oil level only with the engine running.
*If the oil level is too low, add the type of gear oil recommended by the manufacturer.
*If the level is too high, consult a mechanic.
