Checking the oil level in a Toyota Avensis automatic transmission:

Required materials:

* ATF+ engine oil
*Clean rag or paper towel
* Funnel

Instructions:

1. Warm up the engine and gearbox. Drive a few kilometers to allow the box to warm up.
2. Stop the engine. Put the car on the parking brake.
3. Check the oil level in the gearbox. Remove the oil level dipstick located near the engine. Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth.
4. Insert the dipstick back into the transmission. Don’t screw it in.
5. Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level. The level should be between two marks on the dipstick called “COLD” (cold) and “HOT” (hot).
6. Add oil if necessary. If the oil level is below “COLD”, add oil through the dipstick hole using a funnel.
7. Check the oil level again. Continue adding oil until the level is between the “COLD” and “HOT” marks.
8. Reinstall the dipstick. Make sure it is screwed tightly.

Note:

* The oil level should be checked when the oil temperature is around 35-50°C.
* Do not overfill oil as this may damage the gearbox.
