Peugeot 307 automatic transmission torque converter oil seal

Purpose:

The torque converter seal prevents transmission fluid (ATF) from leaking between the torque converter and the transmission housing.

Installation location:

The oil seal is located at the rear of the torque converter where it fits into the transmission housing.

Types:

There are two main types of torque converter oil seals for Peugeot 307:

* Single lip seal
* Double lip seal

A double lip seal is more effective at preventing leaks, but is also more expensive.

Wear symptoms:

* ATF leak from the rear of the automatic transmission
*Reduced ATF level
*Transmission slipping or slipping
*Increasing automatic transmission temperature

Replacement:

Replacing the torque converter oil seal requires removing the automatic transmission. This is a fairly complex procedure and is recommended to be performed by a qualified mechanic.

Replacement procedure:

1. Remove the automatic transmission from the car.
2. Separate the torque converter from the automatic transmission housing.
3. Remove the old oil seal.
4. Clean the oil seal seat.
5. Install a new oil seal.
6. Reassemble the automatic transmission in reverse order.
