Torque converter automatic transmission SsangYong Actyon

The torque converter is a device that transmits torque from the engine to the automatic transmission (automatic transmission) on the SsangYong Actyon. It performs several functions:

* Torque Transmission: The torque converter transmits torque from the engine to the automatic transmission through circulating transmission fluid.
* RPM Smoothing: The torque converter smoothes out jumps in engine speed during gear changes, reducing jerking and vibration.
* Torque Multiplier: On some models, the torque converter can increase torque at low rpm, providing better traction.

Torque converter design

The torque converter consists of three main components:

* Engine impeller: Attached to and rotates with the engine crankshaft.
* Turbine: Attached to the input shaft of the automatic transmission and transmits torque to the gearbox.
* Reactor: Located between the impeller and turbine and directs the flow of fluid, increasing the efficiency of torque transmission.

Operating principle

1. When the engine is running, the impeller rotates, capturing fluid and accelerating it towards the turbine.
2. Liquid moving at high speed hits the turbine blades, transmitting torque to the automatic transmission input shaft.
3. The reactor directs the fluid flow back to the impeller, increasing the torque on the turbine.

Torque converter malfunctions

Typically, torque converters do not fail without serious mechanical problems. However, some signs of trouble may include:

*Too much slip when shifting gears
* Jerking or vibration
* Increased transmission operating temperature
* Transmission fluid leaks on the torque converter housing

If any of these problems occur, it is recommended that you contact a qualified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.
