Torque converter for automatic transmission Nissan Cefiro A32

Purpose

The torque converter serves to transmit and convert torque from the engine to the automatic transmission and performs the following functions:

* Smoothing of torque fluctuations and vibrations transmitted from the engine to the gearbox.
* Increased torque at low engine speeds.
* Serves the fluid coupling mode in the automatic transmission, allowing the car to move away and move at low speeds.

Design

The Nissan Cefiro A32 torque converter consists of the following main components:

* Pump rotor (turbine): Driven by the engine and creates the flow of transmission fluid.
* Reactor wheel (stator): Located between the pump and turbine rotor and directs the flow of fluid generated by the pump.
* Turbine Rotor: Connected to the gearbox shaft and driven by the fluid flow generated by the pump.

Torque converter operation

* Liquid under pressure enters the pump wheel, causing it to rotate.
* The fluid flow is directed to the turbine wheel through the reactor wheel.
* The turbine wheel rotates in the same direction as the pump wheel.
* Part of the torque from the pump wheel is transferred to the turbine wheel through the fluid flow.
* At low engine speeds, the pump wheel rotates faster than the turbine wheel, creating an increase in torque.
* As engine speed increases, the rotation speed of the pump and turbine wheels equalizes, reducing the increase in torque.

Characteristics of the Nissan Cefiro A32 torque converter
