Torque converter automatic transmission Hyundai Grand Starex
Target
The torque converter of the Hyundai Grand Starex automatic transmission is the main element in transmitting torque from the engine to the transmission. It converts engine rotational energy into hydraulic energy and vice versa, providing smooth gear changes and absorbing torque fluctuations.
Device
The torque converter consists of the following main parts:
* Pump: Driven by the engine crankshaft and creates a flow of hydraulic fluid.
* Turbine: Connected to the input shaft of the gearbox and driven by the fluid flow from the pump.
* Stator: The stationary part located between the pump and the turbine that directs the flow of fluid to increase torque.
Operating principle
When the engine is running, the pump creates a flow of fluid that acts on the turbine blades. This drives the turbine and the gearbox input shaft. Because the turbine spins slower than the pump, the difference in speed between the two creates additional energy, which increases the torque transferred to the transmission.
The stator directs the flow of fluid between the pump and turbine, causing fluid to circulate between them. This circulating flow absorbs torque fluctuations, resulting in smooth gear changes.
Advantages
* Smooth gear shifting
*Increased torque
* Absorb torque fluctuations
* Increased transmission efficiency
Service
The torque converter requires regular maintenance to ensure proper operation. It includes:
* Replacement of hydraulic fluid and filter
* Checking the tightness of the seals
* Diagnosis of faults and repairs if necessary
