Changing the oil in a Volkswagen Tiguan automatic transmission
Required materials:
* Engine oil for automatic transmission (recommended ATF VW G 052 182 A2)
* New automatic transmission oil filter (VAG 09G 325 429 recommended)
* Automatic transmission oil pan gasket (VAG 09G 321 371 recommended)
* O-ring for drain plug (recommended N 903 138 02)
*Oil container
* Funnel

* Hex screwdriver
* Torque wrench
* Lift or jack
Oil change steps:
1. Prepare the car. Place the car on a lift or raise it with a jack. Secure the vehicle’s stability with support stands.
2. Drain the old oil. Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan and place an oil container under it. Using a hex screwdriver, loosen the drain plug and drain the old oil into a container.
3. Replace the oil filter. Unscrew the bolts holding the automatic transmission oil filter and remove it. Remove the old O-ring and install the new one. Install a new oil filter and tighten the bolts to the required torque (10 Nm).
4. Clean and install the oil pan. Clean the surface of the oil pan and the new gasket from old oil and dirt. Apply a small amount of oil to the new gasket and install the oil pan in place. Tighten the bolts to the required torque (10 Nm).
5. Install the drain plug. Clean the drain plug and install a new O-ring. Tighten the drain plug to the required torque (30 Nm).
6. Fill with new oil. Using a funnel, pour the specified amount of oil into the gearbox. The recommended volume for Volkswagen Tiguan is 7 liters.
7. Check the oil level. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then place the car on a flat surface and remove the automatic transmission oil dipstick. Check the oil level and, if necessary, add it to the upper mark on the dipstick.
8. Clean the automatic transmission oil dipstick. Clean the automatic transmission oil dipstick and reinstall it into the tube.
9. Remove the vehicle from the lift or lower it from the jack. Remove the support posts and remove the lift or jack.
