First stage (drive)

* Gear ratio: 3.421
* Engages clutches: FB
*Used for low speed driving such as starting and climbing hills.

Second stage (drive/boost)

* Gear ratio: 2,000 (direct gear)
* Engages clutches: FA
* Used for driving at medium speeds, provides good fuel efficiency.

Third stage (increased)

* Gear ratio: 1.286
* Engages clutches: FCC
* Used for driving at high speeds, provides maximum fuel efficiency.

Reverse

* Gear ratio: 3.291
* Engages clutches: FC
*Used to move backwards.

Pressure control

* Three clutches are connected to the drums, which are driven by hydraulic pressure.
* Pressure is monitored by the transmission control module (TCM) based on throttle position, engine speed and load.
* The TCM changes gears by adjusting the pressure on the various clutches.
