Steps to eliminate the consequences of automatic transmission pump failure during installation:
1. Determine the cause of the breakdown:
* Incorrect pump installation
* Defective pump
* Insufficient transmission fluid level
2. Remove the broken pump:
* Drain the transmission fluid from the automatic transmission.
* Remove the automatic transmission pan.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the pump to the automatic transmission housing.
* Carefully remove the pump.
3. Install a new or repaired pump:
* Install the new or repaired pump in the reverse order of removal.
* Tighten the pump mounting bolts to the appropriate torques.
* Install the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
4. Fill the automatic transmission with transmission fluid:
*Add the transmission fluid specified in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
* Check the fluid level and add if necessary.
5. Check the pump operation:
* Start the engine and let it idle.
*Change the gear and check if the pump works normally.
*If the pump still does not work, further diagnosis and repair may be required.
Cautions:
*Always follow the installation instructions provided by the pump manufacturer.
*Use only suitable tools and equipment.
* Do not overtighten the pump mounting bolts.
* Check the transmission fluid level after installing the pump and periodically thereafter to ensure it is at the proper level.
