Actions to take if the automatic transmission overheats:

1. Stop: Stop immediately in a safe place.
2. Select Neutral or Park: Move the gear selector to Neutral (N) or Park (P).
3. Turn off the engine: Stop the engine to reduce transmission heat.
4. Check transmission fluid level: If possible, check the transmission fluid level. Low fluid levels can cause overheating.
5. Allow to cool: Allow the vehicle to cool for at least 30 minutes. Don’t continue driving.
6. Contact Technical Assistance: If the transmission is overheated or you cannot determine the cause of the overheating, call technical assistance.

Precautions:

* Do not continue driving if the transmission is overheated. This may cause serious damage.
*Do not add transmission fluid until the transmission has cooled. This may lead to overflow.
* Avoid towing a vehicle with an overheated transmission. This may further damage the transmission.

Possible causes of gearbox overheating:

*Low transmission fluid level
* Clogged or clogged transmission fluid filter
* Wear or damage to internal transmission components
* Gear slipping due to dirty or worn transmission fluid
* Excessive loads or towing heavy loads
