Toyota Premio automatic transmission selector illumination

Required materials:

* Set of screwdrivers (phillips, flat)
* LEDs (3 mm, white) – 4 pieces
* Resistors (220-330 Ohm) – 4 pieces
* Heat shrink tube
* Soldering iron and solder
* Electrical tape

Instructions:

1. Removing the automatic transmission switch:

* Move the automatic transmission selector to position “P”.
* Remove the housing around the selector lever by prying it off with a flat-head screwdriver.
* Remove the screws securing the automatic transmission switch to the console.
* Gently pull the switch up and disconnect the connector.

2. Disassembling the automatic transmission switch:

* Remove the cover from the selector by carefully prying it off with a screwdriver.
* Pull out the illuminated switch unit.
* Remove the backlight board from the switching unit.

3. Replacing LEDs:

* Unsolder the old LEDs from the backlight board.
* Solder the new LEDs so that they are located in the same order as the old ones.
* Connect the anodes (long leads) of the new LEDs to the resistors.
* Solder the cathodes (short leads) of the LEDs to the pads on the board.
* Insulate all connections with heat shrink tubing.

4. Automatic transmission switch assembly:

* Reinstall the backlight board onto the switching unit.
* Put the cover on the selector.
* Install the automatic transmission switch on the console.
* Tighten the mounting screws.

5. Connector connection:

* Connect the connector to the automatic transmission switch.

6. Backlight check:

* Switch the automatic transmission selector to different positions.
* The backlight must be turned on in the appropriate positions.

Adviсe:

*Use high beam LEDs for better visibility.
*LED wattage may vary depending on desired brightness.
* Be careful when handling the backlight board as it may be fragile.
* If the backlight does not work, check all connections and make sure all components are intact.
