Materials:

* New automatic transmission filter
* New O-ring
* Automatic transmission fluid (type recommended by the manufacturer)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket (optional)
* Clean dishes for draining oil
* Funnel

Tools:

* Wrench or torque wrench
* Set of sockets or wrenches
* Flat blade screwdriver
* Brush or rag
* Gloves

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

* Place the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
* Let the engine idle for a few minutes to warm up the automatic transmission fluid.
* Stop the engine and let it cool for a few minutes.

2. Draining the automatic transmission fluid:

* Locate the drain plug in the automatic transmission pan. It is usually located near the rear of the transmission.
* Place a clean container under the drain plug.
* Using a wrench or socket, carefully unscrew the drain plug and drain the automatic transmission fluid into a container.
* Allow the liquid to drain completely.

3. Filter replacement:

* Find the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan. Usually there are about 10-15 bolts.
* Using a wrench or socket, carefully unscrew the bolts that secure the automatic transmission pan.
* Carefully remove the automatic transmission pan and drain the remaining automatic transmission fluid.
* Find the automatic transmission filter in the pan. It is usually a rectangular or round piece with a paper filter element.
* Using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully pry and remove the old automatic transmission filter.
* Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with automatic transmission fluid.
* Insert the new filter into place, making sure it is seated correctly.

4. Replacing the O-ring:

* Remove the old O-ring from the drain plug.
*Place a new O-ring onto the drain plug.

5. Installing the automatic transmission pan:

* If necessary, replace the automatic transmission pan gasket.
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surface of the automatic transmission pan.
* Reinstall the automatic transmission pan and tighten the bolts in the order specified in the vehicle service manual.

6. Filling with automatic transmission fluid:

* Using a funnel, pour new automatic transmission oil into the gearbox.
* Use the automatic transmission dipstick to check the fluid level.
*Add transmission fluid as needed until the correct level is reached.

7. Starting the engine:

* Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
* Shift the transmission through all gears and back to park.
*Check the automatic transmission fluid level again to ensure there are no leaks and the correct level.

Adviсe:

* Use only automatic transmission fluids and filters recommended by the manufacturer.
* Tighten bolts and nuts according to the instructions in your vehicle’s service manual.
* Check the automatic transmission fluid level a few days after replacing the filter to ensure there are no leaks.
* If necessary, consult a qualified mechanic if you have any difficulties or questions.
