Required tools and materials:
* New automatic transmission solenoid
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Transmission fluid (ATF)
*Work gloves
* Wrench with attachments
* Oil drain key
* Crowbar or flathead screwdriver for removing pan
Instructions:
1. Remove the automatic transmission pan:
* Place the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake.
* Drain the ATF from the pan by unscrewing the drain bolt.
* Using a crowbar or flathead screwdriver, carefully remove the pan from the automatic transmission housing.
2. Find the faulty solenoid:
* After removing the pan, you will see a solenoid block attached to the automatic transmission housing.
* Identify the bad solenoid by checking its resistance (usually around 10-15 ohms).
3. Remove the faulty solenoid:
* Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid.
*Using the appropriate size socket, unscrew the solenoid mounting bolts.
* Carefully remove the solenoid from the block.
4. Install a new solenoid:
* Make sure the new solenoid is in the same position as the old one.
* Insert the solenoid into the solenoid block and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Connect the electrical connector.
5. Install the automatic transmission pan:
* Install a new pan gasket on the automatic transmission housing.
* Screw the pan to the automatic transmission body, tightening all the bolts evenly.
6. Fill with new ATF:
* Fill the automatic transmission with the prescribed amount of ATF through the drain hole.
* Check the ATF level using the dipstick and add to the correct level.
7. Clean up spilled ATF:
* Clean spilled ATF from the pan, automatic transmission housing and other parts.
8. Reset the automatic transmission computer:
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes.
* Connect the battery terminal and start the engine.
* Shift the gear selector to all positions and return to the park position.
9. Take a test drive:
* Take a short drive to check the operation of the automatic transmission.
* Listen for unusual noises or vibrations.
Adviсe:
*Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions in your vehicle’s service manual.
*If you are unsure of your skills, consult a qualified mechanic.
*Use quality parts and ATF that meet your vehicle’s specifications.
*Do not overtighten the bolts as this may cause damage.
* After replacing the solenoid, check the condition of the automatic transmission filter. Replace it if necessary.
