Subaru Forester Transmission Solenoids

Transmission solenoids are electromagnetic devices that control the flow of transmission fluid in an automatic transmission. The Subaru Forester uses the following transmission solenoids:

*Line Control Solenoid (TCC)
* Shift solenoid 1-3-5
* Shift solenoid 2-4-6
* Torque converter lock-up solenoid

Transmission solenoids functions:

* Line Control Solenoid (TCC): Locks the torque converter during high speed driving to improve transmission efficiency.
* 1-3-5 Shift Solenoid: Shifts the transmission from 1st to 3rd and 3rd to 5th gears.
* 2-4-6 Shift Solenoid: Shifts the transmission from 2nd to 4th and 4th to 6th gears.
* Torque converter lock-up solenoid: Locks the torque converter during gear changes to improve transmission efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.

Transmission solenoids location:

The transmission solenoids are located in the valve body, which is located on the side of the transmission. The valve body also contains other transmission control components such as valves and pressure regulators.

Symptoms of faulty transmission solenoids:

Faulty transmission solenoids can cause a variety of problems, including:

* Difficulty shifting gears
* Gear slip
* Increased fuel consumption
* Gear shifting too early or late
* Vibration when shifting gears
*Check Engine Light Flashing or Lighting

Diagnosis of faulty transmission solenoids:

Failed transmission solenoids can be diagnosed using a diagnostic scan tool or by checking the electrical resistance and continuity of each solenoid.

Replacing transmission solenoids:

Replacing transmission solenoids requires removing and disassembling the valve body. This procedure should be performed by a qualified mechanic.

Maintenance recommendations:

Regular transmission maintenance, including transmission fluid and filter changes, can help extend the life of your transmission solenoids. It is also important to avoid harsh driving and transporting heavy loads, as this can cause the solenoids to wear out faster.
