The Subaru Forester automatic transmission oil level dipstick is located to the left of the engine in the engine compartment. Here’s a step-by-step guide to finding it:

1. Open the hood.
2. Stand in front of the car and look at the left side of the engine.
3. Directly in front of the engine you will see a black plastic housing with hoses and wires coming from it.
4. There will be an orange or yellow plastic probe on the top of this housing.
5. Pull out the dipstick and check the oil level.

Please note:

* The dipstick must be clean to accurately measure the oil level.
* Before checking the oil level, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
* The oil level on the dipstick should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks.
