Tools and materials:
* Set of keys and screwdrivers
* Lift or jacks
* Gear oil
* New automatic transmission crankshaft rear oil seal
* Brake cleaning fluid
* Rags
* Gloves
Procedure:
1. Preparing the car:
* Raise the car on a lift or place it on jacks.
* Install wheel chocks under the front wheels.
* Disconnect the battery.
2. Draining transmission oil:
* Locate the drain plug on the automatic transmission oil pan.
* Place a container under the drain hole to catch the oil.
* Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil.
3. Dismantling the cardan shaft:
* Mark the position of the propeller shaft on the automatic transmission shank and on the rear axle flange.
* Unscrew the bolts securing the propeller shaft to the rear axle flange.
* Pull the driveshaft out of the automatic transmission.
* Plug the hole in the automatic transmission to prevent oil leakage.
4. Removing the torque converter:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the torque converter to the engine flywheel.
* Carefully separate the torque converter from the flywheel.
* Remove the torque converter from the automatic transmission.
5. Removing the automatic transmission oil pump:
* Unscrew the bolts securing the oil pump to the cylinder block.
* Remove the oil pump and gasket.
6. Removing the old oil seal:
* Using a small screwdriver or hook, carefully remove the old oil seal from the seat.
* Clean the seat from dirt and remnants of the old oil seal.
7. Installing a new oil seal:
* Apply a thin layer of sealant to the outer circumference of the new oil seal.
* Insert the oil seal into the seat and press it until it is completely seated.
8. Assembly:
* Reinstall the oil pump with a new gasket.
* Reinstall the torque converter and secure it with bolts.
* Connect the cardan shaft and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Reinstall the drain plug and pour new transmission oil into the automatic transmission.
9. Check and completion:
* Start the engine and check for oil leaks.
*Adjust the transmission oil level according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
* Connect the battery.
*Remove the lift or jacks.
* Carry out a test drive to check the operation of the transmission.
