Required tools and materials:
* Transmission fluid ATF SPIII (original Hyundai fluid)
* Funnel
* 17 or 19 mm wrench (depending on year of manufacture)
* Rag
Procedure:
1. Warm up the engine. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to allow the transmission fluid to warm up and liquefy.
2. Check the fluid level. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick (located near the engine). Remove the dipstick, wipe it with a clean cloth, and reinsert it. Remove the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The level should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks on the dipstick.
3. Add liquid if necessary. If the fluid level is below the «MIN» mark, it is necessary to add fluid. Insert a funnel into the dipstick hole and carefully add the required amount of liquid. Use only genuine Hyundai ATF SPIII fluid.
4. Check the fluid level again. After you have added fluid, check the fluid level again using the dipstick. The level should be between the «MIN» and «MAX» marks.
5. Repeat steps 4-7 until the fluid level is normal. You may need to add liquid several times to reach the correct level.
6. Reset the transmission fluid aging counter (TCU). After you’ve added fluid, you need to reset the transmission fluid aging counter (TCU). This can be done using a special scanner or through a Hyundai dealership.
Note:
* When adding liquid, do not overfill. This can lead to transmission problems.
*If the fluid level is significantly below the «MIN» mark, there may be a leak in the system. In this case, contact your Hyundai dealer for diagnosis and repair.
