Changing the oil in an automatic transmission Skoda Fabia
Required materials:
* Automatic transmission oil (ATF) — about 4 liters
* New automatic transmission filter
* Transmission pan gasket
* Special tool for removing hoses
* Funnel
Tools:
* Wrench set
* Screwdriver
* Socket wrench
* Funnel
* Lift or pit
* Gloves
Procedure:
1. Prepare the car: Place the car on a lift or drive it into a pit. Place the car in park and turn off the engine.
2. Drain the old oil: Find the drain plug on the transmission pan and place a container with a capacity of at least 4 liters under it. Unscrew the drain plug with a wrench and let the old oil drain.
3. Remove the transmission pan: Using a screwdriver, remove the screws securing the transmission pan. Carefully remove the pan, draining the remaining oil into a container.
4. Replace the filter: Use a special hose removal tool to disconnect the hoses from the old filter. Remove the old filter and install the new one. Connect the hoses to the new filter.
5. Clean the pan and install the gasket: Clean the transmission pan of any remaining old oil and gasket. Install a new gasket on the pan.
6. Reinstall the pan: Replace the pan and tighten the screws. Tighten the drain plug.
7. Fill with new oil: Using a funnel, pour new ATF oil through the dipstick hole. Fill in about 3 liters of oil and check the level on the dipstick.
8. Check the oil level: Start the engine and let it warm up. Shift the gear selector to different positions, holding each position for a few seconds. Check the oil level using the dipstick. If necessary, add more oil.
Notes:
* Use only ATF oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* It is recommended to change the oil in the automatic transmission every 60,000 — 80,000 km.
*If the oil is black or has a burnt smell, the automatic transmission system may need to be flushed.
* Dispose of old oil in accordance with local regulations.
