Signs of automatic transmission malfunction:

General signs:

* Difficulty shifting gears: gear shifts with delay, jerking or slipping.
* Noise and Vibration: Noise or vibration when shifting gears, accelerating or decelerating.
*Transmission temperature is too high or too low: The transmission is unusually hot or cold.
* Burnt Transmission Oil Smell: A sweetish, burnt odor emanating from the engine compartment.

Signs of specific malfunctions:

Hydraulic faults:

* Gear slipping or slipping: The gear slips or does not engage fully.
* Gear Shift Delay: The transmission delays shifting into gear after a shift.
* Shifts that are too soft or too hard: Shifts are too smooth or harsh.
*Transmission fluid leaks: Fluid leaking from the transmission, resulting in low fluid levels.

Mechanical faults:

* Gear noise: Loud or grinding noise when shifting or accelerating.
* Vehicle shake: The vehicle shakes when driving, especially at certain speeds.
*Transmission oil leaks: Transmission oil leaks due to a damaged gasket or housing.
*Differential problems: noise or vibration when turning or driving on uneven surfaces.

Electronics faults:

*Flashing or illuminated transmission warning light: A warning light on the instrument panel indicates a transmission problem.
*Transmission Control Module (TCM) is faulty: The computer that controls the transmission fails, causing the transmission to shift poorly.
* Sensors are faulty: Sensors such as the speed sensor, throttle position sensor, or transmission temperature sensor send inaccurate signals, causing the transmission to not operate properly.

Other signs:

* Increased fuel consumption: A faulty transmission can reduce fuel efficiency.
* Limited acceleration or maximum speed: The vehicle cannot reach normal speed or accelerates slowly.
* Engine starting problems: The car may not start due to a faulty transmission that is blocking the transmission.
