External signs:

*Slip: Wheels slip or do not connect smoothly, resulting in jerking and vibration when accelerating.
* Reverse gear slip: The transmission slips when reverse gear is engaged.
* Squeaking or whining: Abnormal noises such as squeaking or whining, especially when starting or shifting gears, may indicate a problem with the torque converter.
*Transmission Overheating: Problems with the fluid flow distribution in the torque converter can cause the transmission to overheat, which will manifest itself as hot transmission fluid or a flashing ATF light on the dashboard.

Internal signs:

* Worn or damaged petals: Worn or broken petals, which transmit torque between the turbine and pump wheels, can cause slippage or slippage.
* Clogged or contaminated fluid: Contaminated ATF fluid can cause the fluid passages in the torque converter to become clogged, preventing fluid from flowing freely.
* Damaged pump shaft: A damaged pump shaft may cause vibration or noise.
* Overrunning Clutch Failure: The overrunning clutch, which allows the turbine wheel to rotate freely in one direction, can fail, resulting in gear shifting problems.

Additional signs:

* Shift Delay: The transmission may delay shifting, especially when driving uphill or when trying to accelerate.
* Soft or harsh gear shifts: Gear shifts may become too soft or too harsh due to problems regulating the fluid pressure in the torque converter.
* Increased fuel consumption: A faulty torque converter can cause poor power transmission efficiency, resulting in increased fuel consumption.
