General signs

* The “Check Engine” or “Service” indicator of the engine is illuminated on the dashboard.
* The transmission goes into emergency mode (slipping, no gears, shifting to neutral).
* Unusual sounds or vibrations when shifting gears.
* Increased transmission fluid temperature.

Specific signs of a malfunction of the automatic transmission temperature sensor

* Incorrect transmission fluid temperature readings on the instrument panel or test equipment.
* The gearbox constantly overheats or, conversely, remains too cold.
* The transmission shifts incorrectly, such as downshifting too early or too late.

Additional signs indicating a possible malfunction of the automatic transmission temperature sensor

*Transmission fluid leaks or leaks.
* Change in transmission fluid color (black, brown or cloudy).
* Burnt smell coming from transmission.

Note: Not all of these symptoms can be clearly associated with a malfunction of the automatic transmission temperature sensor. It is recommended that you contact a qualified mechanic or use diagnostic equipment to determine the exact cause of the problem.
