External signs:

* Slipping: the gear is engaged, but the car does not pick up speed, as if it is slipping;
* Extraneous noise: a hum, grinding or howling is heard while driving, shifting gears or idling;
* Transmission fluid leaks: You may find puddles of red fluid under your parked vehicle;
*Transmission Controller Failure: Error or automatic transmission fault messages are displayed on the instrument panel.
Symptoms when driving:
* Delay when shifting gears: the transmission does not shift to the next gear in time, which leads to loss of power or delay in accelerating;
* Shifting too early or too late: The transmission shifts to another gear too early or too late, which affects performance and fuel consumption;
* Inability to shift into a certain gear: the transmission refuses to engage or shift into a certain gear, such as reverse or park;
* Shift Shock: A strong shock or vibration is felt when shifting gears;
* Spontaneous gear shifting: the transmission automatically switches to another gear without driver intervention.
Other signs:
* Transmission overheating: due to a decrease in fluid level, a malfunction of the cooling system or excessive load, the transmission overheats and may fail;
* Burnt smell: If the heat is too hot, you may smell something like burning liquid or plastic.
