Gear selector positions on an automatic transmission:
* P (Parking): Locks the transmission, used when parking the vehicle.
* R (Reverse): Moves the vehicle in reverse.
* N (Neutral): The gearbox is not engaged, the vehicle can roll freely.
* D (Drive): Standard driving mode for most conditions.
* D3 (Overdrive on): Limits shifting to fourth and higher gears (to improve traction at low speeds).
* D2 (Overdrive Off): Limits shifting to third and higher gears (for maximum traction on steep climbs).
* L (Low): Used for driving at very low speeds or with a heavy load.
How to use the automatic transmission:
1. Check that the parking brake is set.
2. Start the engine and wait until it warms up.
3. Lower the gear selector to position D.
4. Release the brake pedal and the car will begin to move forward.
5. To shift to another gear: Move the gear selector to the desired position.
6. When parking: stop the car, set the parking brake and move the gear selector to position P.
Additional tips:
*Always bring the vehicle to a complete stop before changing gears.
* Avoid frequent shifting between D and R.
* Do not change gears in P or R while the vehicle is moving.
*If you experience any slipping or jerking when shifting, see your mechanic.
* Check the gearbox oil regularly and change it if necessary.
