Setting up the automatic transmission after changing the oil
After changing the transmission oil, it is important to tune the automatic transmission to ensure optimal performance. Here is a step-by-step guide to setting up an automatic transmission:
1. Make sure the oil level is correct.
* Check the transmission oil level using the dipstick or level plug.
* The level should be at the “full” mark with the engine running and the “Parking” gear engaged.
*Add oil if necessary.
2. Reset gearbox adaptations.
* Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.
* Alternately shift between all gears (P, R, N, D, L), holding each gear for a few seconds.
* Return to Park position.
* Turn off the engine and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
3. Restarting the adaptation procedure.
* Start the engine and select the “Drive” gear.
* Drive for 10-15 minutes on a straight road.
* Avoid sudden acceleration and braking.
* Shift between Drive and Neutral several times while driving.
4. Stopping and restarting the engine.
* Stop the car, shift into Park and turn off the engine.
* Allow the engine to cool for 5-10 minutes.
* Start the engine and shift to Drive.
* Check whether the automatic transmission has improved.
Additional tips:
* Use only gear oil recommended by the manufacturer.
* Check the transmission oil level regularly.
* Change gear oil at the manufacturer’s recommended interval.
