Setting up the automatic transmission

Automatic transmission adjustment may be required in the following cases:

* Gear slippage
* Gear shift delay
*Hard gear shifts
* Noises or vibrations

Tools and materials:

* OBD-II scanner
* Automatic transmission oil
* Automatic transmission filter
* Automatic transmission pan gasket
* Sealant
* Funnel

Steps for setting up an automatic transmission:

1. Diagnostics

Connect the OBD-II scanner to the vehicle’s diagnostic connector. Read the trouble codes and write them down. Trouble codes can indicate specific problems with the transmission.

2. Changing the oil and filter

Drain the automatic transmission oil and replace the filter. This will help remove contaminants and wear particles that may be interfering with the transmission’s performance.

3. Checking the oil level

Fill the automatic transmission with new oil and check the level. Typically, the level is checked with the engine running and the gearshift lever in the “Parking” position.

4. Adaptation

Adapt the gearbox following the instructions for your specific vehicle model. Adaptation allows the transmission to “learn” engine characteristics and driving style to ensure optimal performance.

5. Check

Take it for a test drive and check the operation of the transmission. Note whether the problems that existed before the setup have been resolved.

Adviсe:

*Consult a qualified mechanic if you are not experienced in setting up an automatic transmission.
* Use only automatic transmission oil recommended for your vehicle.
*Follow the manufacturer’s service instructions for your specific vehicle model.
* Regularly check the automatic transmission oil level and top it up if necessary.
*If problems persist after adjustment, more advanced repairs may be required.
