Sequence of tightening the automatic transmission pan bolts

Required tools:

* Torque wrench
* Set of sockets and keys

Instructions:

1. Clean the bolts and surface of the pallet from dirt and debris.
2. Apply sealant to the pan gasket following the manufacturer’s directions.
3. Install the gasket onto the pan.
4. Install the pan on the automatic transmission, aligning the bolts with the holes.
5. Tighten the bolts according to the following sequence:

V6 engines:

a) Bolts around the oil filter (10 Nm)
b) Bolts at the edges of the pan (10 Nm)
c) Bolts in the center of the pallet (18 Nm)

V8 engines:

a) Bolts at the edges of the pan (10 Nm)
b) Bolts around the oil filter (15 Nm)
c) Bolts in the center of the pan (25 Nm)

6. After all bolts are tightened, check them again with a torque wrench to ensure proper torque.
7. Reset the transmission adaptation counter if the vehicle is electronically controlled.

Note:

*For exact torque values, refer to the repair manual for your specific vehicle model.
* Do not over-tighten the bolts as this may damage the pan or transmission.
*Use a well-calibrated torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
* After replacing the pan, it is recommended to check the automatic transmission fluid level and top it up if necessary.
