1. Stop the engine.
2. Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position (ignition on, engine not running).
3. Press the brake pedal and keep it pressed.
4. Move the automatic transmission selector lever to the “D” (Drive) position.
5. While holding the brake pedal and selector lever in the “D” position, turn the ignition key to the “OFF” position (ignition off).
6. Wait 3 seconds without releasing the brake pedal and selector lever.
7. Turn the ignition key back to the “ON” position (ignition on).
8. Count the number of times the MIL flashes.

Interpretation of results:

Trouble codes are indicated by the number of flashes of the MIL. For example:

*1 flash indicates code P0700
*2 flashes indicate code P0705
* etc.

Notes:

* If the MIL flashes more than 10 times, reset the counter by repeating steps 1-7.
*If the MIL indicator does not flash, there are no errors.
* To clear fault codes after troubleshooting, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and connect it again.
