Location:

*Located on the right side of the gearbox, near the gear selector.

Function:

* Determines the position of the gear shift lever and transmits information to the electronic control unit (ECU) of the automatic transmission.
* This information is used by the ECU to control gear shifting and protect the transmission from shifting into inappropriate modes.

Signs of malfunction:

* Difficulty changing gears or switching to inappropriate modes.
* The Check Engine light comes on.
* Fault codes related to the automatic transmission selector position sensor.

* Wrench or socket set
* Pliers or wire cutters

Replacement procedure:

1. Precautions:

* Keep your vehicle safe by setting the parking brake.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Dismantling:

* Find the automatic transmission selector position sensor.
* Disconnect the electrical connector of the sensor.
* Unscrew the sensor mounting bolts.
* Remove the sensor from the gearbox.

3. Installation:

* Lubricate the new sensor O-ring with transmission fluid.
* Install a new sensor into the transmission.
* Install and tighten the mounting bolts.
* Connect the electrical connector.

4. Completion:

* Connect the negative terminal of the battery.
*Take a test drive to ensure the sensor is working properly.
* Reset fault codes if necessary.
