Selector lever position sensor, automatic transmission Accent

Location:

* Located on the automatic transmission housing next to the gear shift lever.

Purpose:

* Determines the position of the gear shift lever and transmits information to the automatic transmission control unit.
* This allows the automatic transmission to select the appropriate gear depending on the position of the lever.

How the sensor works:

Sensor includes:

* Contact pin
*Multiple electrical contacts
* Electrical connector

When the shift lever is moved, the contact pin comes into contact with various electrical contacts that are connected to corresponding contacts in the electrical connector. This allows the automatic transmission control unit to receive information about the position of the lever.

Sensor types:

* Analog sensor: Provides a continuous signal that changes depending on the position of the lever.
* Digital sensor: Provides a discrete signal indicating a specific lever position.

Problems with the sensor:

Sensor faults can lead to shifting problems such as:

* Difficulty shifting gears
* Slipping or jamming of gears
* Inability to change gears

Diagnostics and replacement of the sensor:

Diagnosis and replacement of the sensor may require special equipment and knowledge. It is recommended that you have a qualified mechanic carry out this work. Replacing the sensor usually involves removing the electrical connector, unscrewing the sensor, and installing a new sensor.
