Mitsubishi Montero Sport automatic transmission selector
The automatic transmission selector is located on the center console of the car. It has the following provisions:
P (Park): Locks the transmission when the vehicle is stationary.
R (Reverse): Activates reverse gear.
N (Neutral): Disconnects the transmission from the engine, allowing the vehicle to move freely.
D (Drive): Basic position for normal driving, which automatically changes gears depending on speed and load.
2 (Second Gear): Limits shifting to second gear, useful for improved traction when off-road or towing.
1 (First Gear): Limits shifting to first gear for maximum traction and control on steep grades or when slow driving is required.
L (Low): Activates a low gear range to improve traction on very steep slopes or in off-road conditions.
O/D OFF (Overdrive): Disables overdrive, which increases engine torque at high speeds.
Additional controls:
* 4WD Mode Button: Used to switch between different 4WD modes.
* Differential Lock Button: Locks the rear axle differential for improved off-road traction.
* Downshift Adjustment Button: Allows you to manually adjust downshift torque.
