Gear shift on a Scania automatic transmission

1. Starting position:

* The gear selector must be in the “N” (neutral) position.
* The brake pedal must be depressed.

2. Gear shift:

* Move the gear selector to the desired position.
*Position options:
* D (Drive): for normal forward driving
* R (Reverse): for driving backwards
* N (Neutral): neutral
*P (Park): for parking

3. Release the brake pedal:

* Release the brake pedal to allow the transmission to shift gears automatically.

4. Throttle control:

*Press the accelerator pedal to increase speed.
* Release the accelerator pedal to slow down.

Additional features:

* Manual mode: Some models of Scania automatic transmissions have a manual mode, which allows the driver to manually change gears. To switch to manual mode, move the gear selector to the “M” position. Use the “+” and “-” buttons on the selector to shift up and down respectively.
* Kick-down: Fully press the accelerator pedal to trigger a quick downshift for maximum acceleration.
* Hill Descent Assist: When activated, this system automatically changes gears and controls speed when descending steep slopes.

Note:

*Before starting the engine, make sure the gear selector is in the “P” (Park) position.
* Do not move the gear selector while driving as this may damage the transmission.
