Replacing an automatic transmission filter in a SsangYong Actyon with a diesel engine

Tools and materials:

* New automatic transmission filter (part no. 4568190000)
* Automatic transmission pan gasket (part No. 4568290000)
* Transmission fluid (ATF) DEXRON VI (for volume see owner’s manual)
* 8mm hex key
* 10mm wrench or socket
* Funnel
* Container for collecting old transmission fluid

Instructions:

1. Gather the necessary materials and tools.

2. Raise the car on a lift or jack. Make sure the car is secure.

3. Drain the old transmission fluid. Place a collection container under the automatic transmission pan. Unscrew the drain plug using an 8mm hex key. Wait until the transmission fluid is completely drained.

4. Remove the automatic transmission pan. Using a 10mm wrench or socket, unscrew the bolts securing the automatic transmission pan. Carefully remove the pan, being careful not to damage the gasket.

5. Replace the automatic transmission filter. Use a screwdriver or pliers to remove the old filter and install the new one. Make sure the new filter is installed and secured correctly.

6. Install a new automatic transmission pan gasket. Remove the remnants of the old gasket from the seating surfaces of the pan and automatic transmission. Install a new gasket and tighten the pan bolts using a 10mm wrench or socket.

7. Fill with new transmission fluid. Using a funnel, pour new transmission fluid into the automatic transmission pan. Check the fluid level using the automatic transmission dipstick and add as necessary.

8. Install the drain plug. Screw in the drain plug and tighten it using an 8mm hex wrench.

9. Start the engine and let it run for about 15 minutes. This will allow new transmission fluid to be pumped through the system.

10. Check the fluid level and adjust as necessary. Using the automatic transmission dipstick, check the fluid level. Add or drain transmission fluid as necessary to reach the correct level.

Adviсe:

*Use only recommended DEXRON VI transmission fluid.
* Replace the automatic transmission filter approximately every 60,000 km.
* If the transmission fluid is dark or has a burning smell, it should be replaced along with the filter.
*Be sure to consult your owner’s manual or professional mechanic for exact instructions specific to your specific vehicle.
